Grandfather Poem at a Wedding: Part 2


...So I called her father a few weeks after,
And asked for permission to start a new life chapter,
I was ready for the rest of our lives,
to be joined as one as Husband and Wife,
And he replied “Oh, wow, I don’t know what to say”
“You see my son Derek just got married recently
“And now the tables have turned for me, you see...”
“It’s my first time as father of the bride-to-be”

Noche de Navidad sueño, sombra, penumbras...  En la alcoba infantil yo le pedia,  la Pascua al Niño y en torno presentia de azules alas misterioso vuelo...  Despues dormi soñandome en el cielo... oia al Niño Dios que me decia...  Tu zapatito pons se acerca el dia ... muevete y al punto cumplire tu anhelo...  Mas estaba desnudo y no encontraba zapato que poner,  cruce un prado azul de margaritas bellas y en el aura del escarpin de la fortuna,  cogi el zapato de la media luna y el mismo Dios me lo lleno de estrellas.  -Magdalena Serna de Vargas.
